Bill Luster speaking to CU Media Luncheon today
2017-04-13 - Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c). Famed photographer Bill Luster speaking at the Campbellsville University Media luncheon, above. Luster began his career in his native Glasgow, KY. He worked for the Glasgow Daily Times, which was headed by Carroll Knicely, and then spent 42 years with the Courier-Journal. Luster's shared many memorable moments and photos, including coverage of fellow Barren Countian Louie Nunn's years as Governor. He also had access to eight presidents during his career. But a very memorable anecdote for Adair, Metcalfe, and Barren Countians was a time in his early days. He said he headlined a story "Barren woman marries Breeding man," adding, "Mr. Knicely never asked me to do a wedding page layout again." (His headline had no errors, but it would have made a big differenced if he'd added the geographical parts, Barren County woman/Breeding KY man). -- LW

Three Horses Standing . . . Rock Mill Road, Beechville, KY
2017-04-13 - Rock Mill Road, between Knob Lick & Beechville, Edmonton, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. A pretty scene not far from The Cut in Metcalfe County, conjures up a video to go with a song attributed to Cumberland County composer/lyricist Whitey Stearns, "Three horses standing and two more to ride," which he sang in Columbia, during the years Dick Morris ran the G & M Grill. That was long, long ago - the exact time, if ever remembered, has been deleted from internal database. - EW
