Allan Mercer Parnell spoke of home and hardship and blessings -- and of sharing the blessings -- to a full house at the 2017 Founders Day dinner Thursday, April 27, 2017. He said he knows firsthand how vital it is to mentor young people when they need help getting an education and a start in the workplace. In a speech peppered with moments of hilarity, as in this photo, he made his point that when we are blessed, we are to bless others. He is a native of Sparksville in southern Adair County who went to Louisville for work after high school and worked his way up to top leadership in more than one company before starting his own Mister "P" Express trucking company with his wife, Bunny, at left, and his daughter Cindy in the audience.
