How high's the water, Sue Stivers?

2017-04-30 - Bank Street, Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Took this photo while enjoying a beautiful Friday lunch in Cumberland County with one of Kentucky's genuine experts on the area, Sue Cravens Stivers. We both feel a trip to Burkesville is not complete until we've checked on the beautiful Cumberland River at the edge of town. On this day it was out of its banks, covering much of the boat ramp, high enough to flood Carl Carey's favorite fishing spot (See: Fishing for trout from a chair by the Cumberland River).

(ClassAd photo) The J.O.Y Ministries Indoor Yard Sale will be huge

2017-04-30 - J.O.Y. Ministries, 212 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
If no other yard sale is held in the area next week, the one J.O.Y. Ministries plans for 8am-11amCT, Saturday, May 6, 2017, will make it a Yard Sale Weekend to remember. Above, Maggie Coleman stretches her arms to embrace the idea of its size. The boxes are now on the second floor of the busy center, and the unopened boxes stretch into another upper room (which Maggie Coleman says is now available for rental as a photographer's backdrop). This sale will be held inside, rain or shine, following a growing and highly successful trend for yard sales. - EW
