KY Afield Outdoors: State resort parks for largemouth bass

Geoff Roberts, conservation educator at Kentucky Fish and Wildlife's Salato Wildlife Education Center, holds a largemouth bass caught early Monday morning from Barren River Lake. Barren River Lake State Resort Park, along with Lake Barkley State Resort Park, offer excellent accommodations for a weekend of largemouth bass fishing on two of the best lakes for the species in Kentucky. - LEE McCLELLAN

Adair, nearby counties rank high nationwide in HIV, Hep C

Because of needle sharing about drug users, Kentucky has more vulnerable counties than any other state in the nation. Russell County is No. 54 in the nation. Taylor County is No. 76. Adair is No. 93. Cumberland is No. 101. Green No. 132. Casey is No. 153. The problem has been increasing to an unsustainable rate. Needle Exchange programs in countries and states which have them have dramatically reduced the spread of disease, Dr. Rick Miles in his comments to the Adair County Fiscal Court on May 9, 2017. A Needle Exchange program will soon be offered here. - EW
