GSA Troop #896 helps Stamp Out Hunger 2017-05-13 - Columbia Post Office, 800 Burkesville Street, Columbia. - Photo by Annita Barnett. Girl Scout Troop #896 visited the Columbia Post office on Saturday, May 13, 2017 to deliver donated food items for the Annual Stamp Out Hunger Campaign. After loading the food items in a mail bin the girl's were treated to a tour of the facility. Mr. Ken and Mr. Dustin were very nice and explained the process of the mail arriving at the docks around back and each step every piece of mail went thru until it arrived at each home or business. The girls really enjoyed this very informative lesson on helping others and our United States Mail service! Neither pea soup fog or chilly morning got in the way of a major project for the Band of Brothers at the Columbia Christian Church. They were preparing to install a 40 ft tall flagstaff at the church this morning. The waking crew included Bobby Morrison, Bob Fishback, Stephen Keen and Roger Meadows. The Band of Brothers quietly goes about doing good works, far and near. Whether it is to rebuild a church in Adair County, KY, or a project in Kansas, Adair County, Oklahoma. They've done both and a lot more. Stephen Keen said the bigger story might be the time the old flag pole has stood - it dates from the time of the new sanctuary. (Pardon the parallax).
