2017-06-16 - Aloft Hotel, 10700 Westport Road, Louisville, KY - Photo by Steve Jones, Morgan Smith Industries, LLC, Columbia, KY. MSI built this round check-in desk in the main lobby. The base is a 360 degree curved LED backlit graphics panel and the top is made out of concrete (very popular with architect at present). There is curved cabinetry located on the inside for use by the hotel clerks. MSI also built the wall/ceiling structure in the background with the casework and newspaper rack. - STEVE JONES

AC School Board: Smiles and expressions of pleasure pervade
2017-06-16 - Adair County School District Conference Room, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c). The June 15, 2017, School Board School Board meeting was one of the most collegial, harmonious of any session ever in Adair County, with smiles and expressions of satisfaction evident all around, especially in the faces of the two who will be working closely, at the helm of internal management and in charge of day-to-day operation and oversight, at left Dr. Pam Stephens, now superintendent, and right Lisa Burton (Div 3), Chair of the School Board. All members of the Board, Terry Harvey (1), Daniel Adams (2), Jonathan Gaskins (4), and Mike Harris (5) were present and voted for the 4-year term for Dr. Stephens. - EW

Where everything is happening today
2017-06-16 - From Will Walker Lane, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c). From Will Walker Lane, at the entrance to Pinewood Shopping Center, a beehive of activity can be seen through the fog - even if one has to look triple hard to Kenneth& Earnestine Bennett's place high on the hill and Miss Vicky's Pampered Angus Ranch in Greater Bliss was nigh impossible to see. There's blacktopping at The Appliance Store across Burkesville Road and, out-of-frame on the right, a lot of paving work in Pinewood Shopping Center. The million gallon Raider Bob water tower gives one a Francis Scott Key moment, and almost dead-center is where a huge event is set to occur today, the Grand Re-Opening of the Columbia Walmart Super Center, where there ill be today, with a Ribbon Cutting at 9amCT. - EW

A trial & tribulation, an ambitious & vexing cat: Blue
2017-06-16 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c). Seconds count, in the fast paced life in Columbia - but Linda's dammit cat, Blue, who has had enough moments of android ambitions to make me think he is a re-incarnated human or visting alien in cat form, is vexing me with his latest 'phase' - I hope it's a phase - to be either Chief Pontiac or the Spirit of Ecstasy, even he can't do a three-pointed star, nor brand-match God of Wisdom -, as he sits on the bonnet of the only luxury car I own. Stubborn soul, he is. - ED WAGGENER. Letters of empathy welcome.
