Shadow illusion: How is LWC water tower standing?
2017-06-19 - Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c). iPhone cameras are often used for noon time photos. Some have a real problem when there's an errant setting just because noon time glare means the screen is a black black in some light. This photo was not meant to be black & white, but it took more than a moment, on first glance, to find figure out how a bent, stem size support could support the tank, which holds a lot of water - or mashed potatoes for Cranmer Dining Center, to believe some student tales. - EW. MSI Artisans Steve Hancock, Max Hadley work on bar surround
2017-06-19 - Morgan Smith Industries, LLC, 132 Industrial Park Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Steve Jones, Morgan Smith, LLC, Columbia, KY.
Steve Hancock, left, and Max Hadley, both Artisans in the Custom Shop area of MSI, work on the bar surround for the W XYZ Bar at the Aloft Hotel - Louisville East. The surround is so tall that it had to be preassembled in the plant on its back. Once it was assembled and tested, if was disassembled and shipped to Louisville. One of the challenges our Engineers face is how to take a very large object designed by the Architect, such as this surround, and structure it in such a way that it can be fully test assembled in house, then broken down into pieces small enough to ship and to go through a 6 foot by 7 foot door opening at the site and then be reassembled and appear that is all one finished piece. - STEVE JONES, MSI

Reggie, Golden Retriever Mix, is waiting for a forever home
2017-06-19 - Green River Animal Shelter, 455 Appleby Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Tammy Campbell, Director, Green River Animal Shelter. Dog of the Week Hi, my name is Reggie. I'm a laid back kind of guy. I don't have a mean bone in my body. But, I am very protective over my home so therefor, I would be better off as an only dog. I've been at the shelter for awhile now. I wait and wait for each passing person to hopefully choose me to take home with them, but it seems as if they don't even give me a second glance. I'm a golden retriever mix and I love to go on walks. I am 4 years old. My adoption fee is $50.00 and that pays to get me neutered at my local vet. If interested, please contact Green River Animal Shelter, 455 Appleby Drive, Columbia, KY, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-5pmCT and Saturdays 10am-2pmCT. Phone at 270-385-9655. Thanks. - TAMMY CAMPBELL, Director
