A new-fangled hollyhock 2017-07-03 - Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. This star spangled hollyhock plant, sprawling over lower flowers, came from a bulb according to gardner Fay McKinley, rather than seed pods which is how old fashioned hollyhocks get born. She found this one which produces pretty, pink carnation-like blooms, in the Walmart garden center a while back and the blossoms are so heavy they pull the stalks over. - LW.
