Happy 4th business birthday, Liberty Road General Store & Deli

Patty's Liberty Road General Store and Deli is celebrating four years in business on this July 4th holiday, 2017 with free gifts and home cooked food for customers. Patty Edwards, owner and operator, at right, holds grandson Aiden who will be two on July 15, 2017. At left is 3-year employee Miranda Stang, with Kristi Curry, center, who has been part of the crew for a year. Overall, Patty's business has contributed six jobs to the Adair County economy. She sends a big "thank you" to the community for their support, for without them, she said, there's no way the store would make it. She looks forward to a bigger celebration this time next year. Her motto is, "Cook it and they will come!"

A pretty good rock for climbing

Graham Waggener found this large rock with handy climbing holds on the Lakeview Trail along Lake Vesuvius, in Wayne National Forest just outside of Ironton, Ohio. The park is about 15 minutes from Ashland, KY, the home of his maternal grandparents, Ken and Kay Smith.

What is this vegetable/fruit?

Next I will get out my chainsaw and see if I can open this gigantic garden vegetable which looks like a zucchini on steroids. The harvester said that even the master gardener doesn't recognize it and can't say for sure what will be discovered on the inside. More later, after the chainsaw chores. - LINDA

A motorcycle hearse to carry Joe Gadberry to final resting place

A Motorcycle Hearse will carry Joe Gadberry to his final resting place at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 54 Chestnut Grove Road, Breeding, KY this afternoon following the service, which starts at 1pmCT, today, July 4, 2017. It will be a first ever event for Adair County and only the second time in Kentucky that a motorcycle hearse has been used. The hearse is styled after horse-drawn hearses used in the old west, according to Bill Demrow, who, with his son Curt Demrow, had the hearse custom built, and painted a matching color to the 2014 Harley Davidson Tri-Glide used to pull the hearse. The late Joe Gadberry was a passionate man, especially when it came to motorcycles. His famous yellow BMW had over 80,000 miles on it when stopped riding just a few months ago.
