Tree art of Beech tree roots with moss and fern was discovered on a journey to find shade and cool on the hottest day of 2017 so far. When it's 95 degrees in blazing sun and humidity, the bliss that comes from wandering through a cool, shaded valley makes it easy to forget taking notes and just behold the countryside in south central Kentucky. Best we can remember, the scene is somewhere on the drive from Mt. It may have been a different method of cooking, it may have been a different source and size, but the Fordhook Lima beans served this week at Betty's OK Country Cooking were the closest to the taste I remember of the ones J.D. Harper used to serve - remember when the Peggy Brockman would bring those Fresh Frozen Fordhook Limas as listed on the daily specials there? The lima's texture then and above was soft and, after butter was slathered over them, good enough for dessert.
