An amazing shopping mall comes to life at 103 Merchant Street each Saturday, at 8amCT and each Wednesday, at 1pmCT. Very shortly after 5 hour sessions are over, there's scarcely a trace of what's just transpired. The growth of FM2 continues a steady upward vector, Market Coordinator Barbara Armitage said. This year the market is often around 2.5 times the traffic in the old location, where a big crowd was 300. Now, the Wednesday market draws that many. And on Saturdays, the number in attendance can exceed 800. Hay-bale- bombed sidewalk, one month after. The site at what could have been a tragedy has been cleaned up and a new sign has been erected. Guess who paid? The citizens of Columbia, KY and it wasn't cheap. The new sign and pole cost around $100. And the City of Columbia Street Department cleaned up the mess. No one knows who the driver of the vehicle which lost the huge bales was. But that person would have to have known he/she had lost three round bales of hay. Had pedestrians been walking there, lives could have been lost. And discussion of some pretty serious issues, especially farm related ones are discussed on an ad hoc basis almost any time one is here. Pearls of wisdom can be overheard almost any time: Like the solution to the question, How many acres are there in Adair County which was worked out on the spot. If you had been there at the right time, you would have known. The question was of relevance, because it let a number of the panelist know how many acres of Adair County Real Estate they did not own.
