(Ad Photo) Ribeye Steak breakfast - family style
2017-08-19 - Liberty Road General Store & Diner, 5097 Liberty Road, Vester, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Family style shareable breakfasts and lunches/dinners, can be custom built at Patty's Liberty Road General Store & Deli. Extra plates are available on request. The centerpiece a juicy 10 oz Ribeye, later split three ways, and a family plate of just picked Adair County-grown tomatoes and chipped Jalapeno. Patty's buttery grits are served in generous bowls, and these went three ways. Her unique has browns were ample for three. A finicky egg eater insisted on scrambled eggs. Patty's Coffee is just plain good-as-is-brewed, everyone of the three who shared the breakfast ordered coffee and ice water. A meat platter and second order of eggs-over-easy with more biscuits filled out the breakfast. we'll order the restaurant's Country Ham Breakfast Feast. Besides being really tasty, the costs is embarrassingly low. Everything, including a reasonable tip - but maybe short for the impeccable service (we went during a mid-morning lull, the best time for an unhurried brunch) - around $25. Hard to do that, anywhere, even at home. - EW.

Scenic Adair County, KY: Goldenrod in (almost) natural setting
2017-08-19 - Greenbriar Ridge Road, between Breeding & Chance, Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Goldenrod is peaking this week along byways in South Central Kentucky, making Day Trips along byways such as Greenbriar Ridge Road, delightful, despite the assault on the roadside by Tree Manglers and Herbicides. The devastation is cropped out of this picture, with only a hint in the lower right hand corner. Maybe enough people don't care about what this is doing to health and economic wealth, but many do. And, in Adair County, their numbers seem to be growing - though we're pessimistic that they will protest to the government entities at all levels who perpetuate shortsightedness. - EW.
