Ornamental Poke for shade and ink

Some judgmental people would misinterpret this scene as sloth and sorriness. And maybe that's true, but the giant pokeweed is providing shade, ornamentation, and a great source of the raw material for making ink. The red topped store bought trellis is to support on end of a highly productive grape tomato plant away from varmints. So far, that one plant has provide dozens of tomatoes with the best taste of the summer. Maybe next year the poke plant won't get out of hand; but this year, we enjoying its beauty. - EW

Sean Neat 1st Speaker for local mentoring program at AYDC

Students at Adair Learning Academy will benefit greatly this year from members of our community. Each week a guest speaker will be speaking to the students about career opportunities, life skills, and continuing education as part of a mentoring program through the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice. Our speaker on Friday, August 18, 2017 was Sean Neat from World Finance. Mr. Neat spoke to the students about being a conscientious borrower and how credit scores can help or hinder them when making purchases in the future.
