(Ad) CAUD employees fundraising for colleague battling cancer

2017-09-15 - CAUD office, 109 Grant Lane, Columbia, KY - Photo by Mrs. Connie Young.
Jeff Woolridge is currently fighting colon cancer. He has worked for CAUD for 18 years. We are planning fund raisers to help Jeff with his medical expenses. His fellow CAUD employees are taking up t-shirt (left) orders and bracelet (right) orders. Money will need to be paid up front when ordered. If you would like to make a contribution you can drop off at First and Farmers National Bank (Jeff Woolridge Fund) on the public square or at the CAUD office, 109 Grant Lane, Columbia, KY. Any help you can give will be appreciated. For more information, call our office at 270-384-2181. - Mrs. Connie Young

Corbin-Richards Road is a delight for slow driving. The lane is shady and meanders merrily to Edmonton Road, just above the Central Business District in Downtown Gradyville. - EW

Hailey lunching with family on Grandparent's Day

2017-09-15 - Shelby County, KY - Photo by Aunt Judy Goldring.
Hailey Elizabeth Waggener and her schoolmates hosted family at lunchtime on Grandparent's Day at Southside Elementary School in Shelbyville, KY recently. Seems a brief time since I attended there with her cousin Matilda Anne a year ago but time flies when little ones are growing up. Hailey follows in the footsteps of her Southside Tiger big brothers Graham and Evan who have moved on to Collins. With her Aunt Judy Smith Goldring standing in for her Smith grandparents, we had a nice threesome lunch visit before school schedules resumed. -- Hailey's Mema Linda

Pastors who have served at Columbia UMC

2017-09-15 - 202 Burkesville St., Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com.
How many pastors have you known from this line of photographs of those who have served at the Columbia United Methodist Church? When I first came to Columbia, Rev. Paul Kneipp was our leader with his lovely wife Marian. This scene captured my attention in the back hallway when I was there to get photos of children's activities this summer. - LW. Foggy Friday puts tower into clouds - Columbia, KY

2017-09-15 - 000 Block of Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
The weather forecast calls for the fog to burn off by 9amCT, this morning. But at 7:53amCT, the cell phone tower off Gaston Avenue still had the look of a mountain morning in North Carolina. Fortunately, the fogs in September are not "counters," in weather prognosticator Larry Smith's scientific calculations for the number of snows in winter. Those only happen in August. - Ed Waggener

Pretty blue cornflower of late summer

2017-09-15 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com.
A favorite summer flower, the blue cornflower, is going to be missed as days get shorter toward fall. Added benefits are the little bright yellow finches that seem to flock to stands of cornflower. -- LW
