JIM: Auction ad for Palatial Russell Home - 04 Nov 1937


2017-10-09 - Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo from the collection of JIM.
This auction notice appeared in the Adair County News on Thursday, November 4th, 1937. (The paper was published a day late that week in order to report the election news.) The following week, the paper noted that "Mrs. Ed Wilson and Robert Caldwell bought the two lots Facing Jamestown Street." However, continued the News, the "residence and rear lots were not sold, as the owner would not accept prices offered." (Mrs. Ruby Russell was the third wife of well-known Columbia merchant Mr. J.O.
