2017 Treats on the Town - Cash Express
2017-11-01 - Corner, Jamestown entrance onto Public Square - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The Cash Express Treats stand was one of the most colorful. Behind the table, the Tiger is real - that's Logan Reliford. In the center is his father, Jason Reliford, as himself, and, at right, not trying to be a national celebrity look alike, but is, DeAnna Richard. (She would need to cock her head to her right, and maybe not have as big a smile to do that). The Unicorn is not real. - Ed Waggener

Kentucky Color: Forsythia in bloom in October
2017-11-01 - Green Hills neighborhood, Columbia, KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge, Homeplace on Green River President. I've often said that Forsythia blooms 12 months a year. However, I've never researched it but I, for sure, have seen it blooming in January, February, March, April and now October and November. So, I'm gonna count next year and maybe you can help me with this Forsythia Bloom Research Project. If you see it blooming, report it to the "Bloomer Police at CM." - Billy Joe Fudge

Patterns in the pavement - economical blacktop preservation
2017-11-01 - KY 61, Burkesville Road, Harrods Fork Community, between Sparksville & Elroy, Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. This technique for repairing cracks in pavement may have been around for a long time and hadn't caught our attention. These repairs look fresh. The patterns are entertaining, and some may look for providential symbolism in it. Our first impression: The repairs make sense, both in terms of economy and maybe safety. Drivers and occupants feel, at least in most cars, and should tend to slow down a bit. Clicking Read More accesses a North Carolina Department of Highways YouTube video on the maintenance technique. Comments welcome. - EW

A timeless scene in Metcalfe County, KY
2017-11-01 - Subtle community, Metcalfe County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Mums, and an old fashioned well pump, created delightful props for the butterscotch and white cat on October 31, 2017, in one of South Central Kentucky's most beautiful communities of yesteryear with the understated name of "Subtle," KY - not pronounced "suttle," of course. -- EW
