Scenic Somerset, KY - Fall color in a vibrant downtown
2017-11-13 - East Mt. Vernon Street, Somerset, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Sunday morning, November 12, 2017, Somerset, KY, the capital of the Fifth District as Pulaski County, still had grand fall color in the 200 block of East Mt. Vernon Street. Could help but notice, too, how active the street is, with most storefronts occupied and recently improved, thanks in part to the on street parking and visitor friend benches, two way traffic, preservation efforts, and buried utilities - aesthetic advantages, true, but equally important, factors in economic development. Wonderful to see that this thriving micropolitan area is embracing preservation and modern growth as complementary rather than competing components for a better economy. - EW
