Strange markings foretell of coming of huge post-holiday present
2017-12-16 - W Fortune & S Reed Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Folks watching goings-on know this is not the work of little green men, but of burley dudes in little red trucks. The symbols look a bit alien, a bit russian, but they are simply markings for prior to the start of construction of one of the most needed infrastructure programs in recent times, the Burkesville Street Phase of the Columbia/Adair Utility District's Downtown Waterline Project. All the paperwork and pre-construction talks are complete, and a local firm, Stotts Construction, is scheduled to begin work January 3, 2017. For those who have already completed all the Rosetta Stone foreign language courses, know their 10- and 11' emergency codes, and would like to speak utilityese, there's a guide at Recommended Marking Guidelines
For Underground Utilities PDF which will decode the puzzle above.
