Science students at CES experiment with eggs

2018-01-20 - Taylor County, KY - Photo by Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer, Campbellsville Independent Schools.
Campbellsville Elementary School students are learning about eggs in Patty Haley’s third-grade class where they recently performed an experiment to see just how tough the egg membrane is and how it protects an egg. To experiment, students first placed an egg in vinegar. Three days later, students observed how their egg had changed, then removed their egg from the vinegar and the shell came off easily. Next they dropped their eggs at different distances to test how the membrane protects the egg. CES third-graders smile as they prepare to drop their eggs. From left are Cayton Lawhorn, Luke Adkins, Joseph Greer, Angelina Babbs, Braxton Tucker, Aidan Wilson, Devyn Tingle and Drevonte Gurley.

The wedding circle in the circular Begley Chapel

2018-01-20 - Columbia KY - Photo by Carri Peterson, SunlitMomentsPhotography.
New Years Day was a perfect day for a wedding -- the marriage of Orissa Jai Astar Mora-Kent and Nicholas Anthony Woodward took place on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College. Orissa wrote, "We got married in the Begley Chapel; my niece calls the chapel, 'The Singing House.' Nick and I had a very small wedding, we all gathered in a circle inside the circular chapel, joined hands and a few of us sang out spontaneously. This building with a rich history, stood, sheltering us during the laying of a foundation of a hope and a future!" Clicking 'read more' takes readers to this story of the couple's beginning, shared in their own words.

Entering Snowy Columbia down Grider Hill Pass

2018-01-19 - Approaching Columbia Bypass on KY 61/KY 80, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
The cut across the intersection looked like a two way ski slope in need of a chairlift to be a ski resort. Usually, this much snow bring out a few skiers, but we haven't heard reports of any this season. The photo was taken Thursday evening, January 18, 2018. Roads were in excellent shape on state and city maintained roads, as well as many county roads. - EW
