ACPC Kindergartners Cooper Brock, left, and Landyn Coomer were ready to help lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the February meeting of the Adair Board of Education. Principal Patty Rush Smith guided her group in their presentation. They introduced themselves, gave their teacher's name and their parents' names and then led the crowd in the Pledge. A crowd of proud family members filled the meeting room.

ACPC Site Base Council at meeting in support of Kindergartners

The ACPC Site Base Council was recognized by Principal Patty Smith as being in attendance at the February meeting of the Adair Board of Education in support of the Kindergarten students there to lead the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Council includes, in no particular order and not all necessarily present: Principal Patty Smith, Angie Hixson, Julie Burton, Tabitha Giles, Lisa Hayes, Jennifer Brock, Jennifer Furkin, and Jessica Willis, according to Adair County Schools/Site-Based Decision Making Councils 2017-18 a directory which also includes SBDMs for Adair County Elementary School, Adair County Middle School, and Adair County High School. -- LW

Waters running high in little creek by White Oak Church

Recent rains followed by sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures are bringing the winter landscape to life as in the rushing waters of the little creek that runs by White Oak Church. With a few weeks of winter to go, this month may set a record for having the most wildly swinging temperatures of any before it.

KY Afield Outdoors: New fishing regs for 2018

Tim Slone, retired director of the Information and Education Division of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, holds a black crappie caught from Taylorsville Lake. The increase in the minimum size limit to 10 inches for crappie on Taylorsville Lake is one of several new fishing regulations for 2018 that anglers must know before fishing this spring.
