I am Joey White, Republican Incumbent for Adair County Jailer.

I have proudly served as your Jailer for the past 3 years. I am married to Elizabeth Burton White, together we have two children, Carter, 11 and Makayla, 6. My parents are Terry and Marci White. My family and I attend the Columbia Christian Church, where I serve as a deacon. I am a graduate of Adair County High School and the National Hardwood Lumber Association lumber inspection school. I started and ran my own business in Columbia for 15 years before becoming Jailer in 2015.

In the past 3 years we have made many steps in the right direction, these things could not have been accomplished without each of my staff and help from the community.

In my first 2 years in office, I was able to stay $270,000 under budget. This is a great accomplishment and something that I will continue to work toward each year if re-elected.

In 2016, I proposed that my staff receive an increase in pay, this was voted on and passed by the fiscal court. These pay increases were well deserved. My staff work hard, day in and day out making sure that the inmates are safe, and their basic needs are met. I have an excellent staff, I could not do what I do without them.

The jail continues to provide community service, saving the county approximately $300,000 in labor each year. State inmates are working at the animal shelter, for the road department, at the recycle center, city sanitation and maintenance, the center on aging, Adair County Pride litter pick-up and Adair County Board of Education. Our mowing crew saves the county approximately $15,000 per year in labor. Also, our 3-acre garden the inmates work in decreases the amount of money needed in our food budget. These work release programs provide on the job training and skills needed for them to re-enter the workforce when released.

I am proud to say that there are many programs in place for our inmates. Including GED, life skills, Celebrate Recovery and our jail ministries. These programs will hopefully lead to a better quality of life for them once they are released. These would not be possible without the dedication of members of our community and many local churches and organizations.

My main concern every day is the safety of the staff and those who are incarcerated. My staff all receive 24 hours of training each year. I have an open-door policy in my office, anyone whether it be a staff member or member of the community can express their concerns or suggestions, I am always willing to listen.

Last year, I had the honor of being nominated and elected by my peers to the Kentucky Jailers’ Association Board of Directors. Together with 20 other Kentucky Jailers, we serve the training, legislative and support the needs of all Kentucky Jailers.

I have always prided myself on being honest and hardworking. I have been committed and dedicated to this job since day one. Mb> If re-elected I will continue to watch your tax dollars and make the best decisions for the jail and our county.
