Crossing Merchant: Instructions are posted 2018-02-26 - New pedestrian crossing Merchant Street at Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Pedestrians who have been urging safer crossings now have them at the intersection of Campbellsville Street with Merchant Street and it's out-of-frame continuation, N Reed Street, Columbia. Above, two essentials are 1) a clearly defined crosswalk, and 2) to the the left, and stop bar for cars. Pedestrians should feel an obligation to become familiar with the rules, posted on the rectangular sign above, remember that with rights also comes a social imperative to be courteous, to respect motorists, too. The sign tells when to cross and when not to, informs those planning a crossing where to see "remaining time," and indicates the button to push to activate the crossing lights.
