Site of Magic Mart, Marathon Convenience Store in Pinewood

This lot in the new Pinewood Shopping Center is the location for the 5,500 s.f. Magic Mart gasoline retailer, convenience store location and an as yet to be announced store. For reference, Adair Kwik Lube in in the right-of-center and is already open. Edmonton Road/KY 80 traverses the photo. And, on the left, Miss Vicky's (not-for-sale, thank-you-very-much) Pampered Angus Ranch. The photo was taken from the Cumberland Family Health parking lot on Monday, February 26, 2018. By Wednesday, Pyles Excavating equpment had moved onto the lot. - EW

Wooden creature seen in woods: Alligator/croc or elephant

This stump stood out, intentionally or by chance. It appeared to the photographer to be an alligator or crocodile, but to others, an elephant or mastodons. But even eons ago, back in the 1900's only elephants were seen in this country, mostly when traveling here from Indiana or Florida, mostly with circuses, and most of the time they didn't escape, though there are actual accounts of such happenings, it is believed. But only heroic historians who dare to delve where others dare not, remember these essential facts. If you care to comment, you are welcome - EW
