The casualty of what would be, at best guess, destruction of an expensive Yield sign was left Saturday afternoon at the exit off the Public Square at Greensburg Street. The The loss of these signs would seem to be happening too often not to search for more effective answers. Out in the county, destruction of signs appears to be intentional vandalism, which seems to be at an all time high. Sat 17 Mar 2018 afternoon: Another Yield sign destroyed 2018-03-19 - Greensburg Street, entering Public Square, Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, Columbia, KY. Apparently it happened between 3pmCT and after 6pmCT Saturday, March 17, 2017. Before 3pmCT, there was a yield sign in the base of the yellow triangle, in front of the courthouse, facing oncoming traffic. In the photo above, taken at around 6:27pmCT it's gone, apparently the victim of a motor vehicle. The occurrence happens too often and presents not only added danger, but also a useless expense to taxpayers. Surely there's a reasonable answer. Perhaps during this election year candidates will address the situation.
