An Easter Egg hunt was sponsored by the Revisit Knifley Committee, Knifley Brethren in Christ Church and Campbellsville Emmaus. Noah Morrison, little son of Amanda and Stephen Morrison of Knifley, won the grand prize, the giant teddy bear he is sitting with/giving great consideration to, donated by Christopher Patton. 76 year old Revolutionay War Memorial looks better than new 2018-04-10 - Burkesville Street facing lawn, Historic Adair County Courthouse, 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The Jane Lampton Chapter of the D.A.R. erected the plaque and monument in 1942. Recently, "Band of Brothers" member Ed Vincent restored the plaque to bright or brighter than new. It's now very legible. His work is evident around Columbia, and he's attracted a band of fans, including some very influential ones in historical/preservation circles, Richard Phelps and Ellen Zornes. Vincent's work is very meticulous. It starts with cleaning, then painting each letter surface three times, drying them in between painting. Wildflower Array: Late Woods Poppy like a Tulip 2018-04-10 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. There are just two Celandine or Woods Poppies in this picture. They seem to be late this year, by as much as Easter was early. At first the one dead center appeared to be an unopened tulip, but it was not. Last year, this location was bright with a hillside of peaking Celandine Poppies. This year, the peak is an anticipated, yet-to-come event here. As a bonus, though, the Robin's nest trillium, in the lower part of the photo, was so abundant that it seems as common as the violets now rife, everywhere. There are other plants we wish we could identify, and ought to be able to do so - so please help with any other forest floor item - we think there is an interesting fungus in the upper right, would be appreciated. - EW/LW.
