Wildlife of KY - Braking for rabbits takes skill

2018-05-27 - Independence Ridge Road, Breeding/Picnic/Dirigo area of Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
We brake for rabbits, but sometimes it's hard to figure out what goes on in their heads. These two were satisfied with this location when we braked for them to 1) Take their picture and 2) Give them a chance to get off the pavement. Top Rabbit took note and exited stage right. Bottom Bunny exited stage left. And the road was clear, and we inched forward, when, suddenly, Bottom leaped onto the pavement and raced to stage right. We're sure rabbit hunters know every impulse a rabbit has. We didn't, but were just thankful these lively, entertaining creatures made it another day. - EW/LW
