The Adair County Way in Action: The Paz Holley Project at FM2 - June 16, 2018

2018-06-16 - FM2 at Municipal Parking Lot, Campbellsville & Merchant Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Rick Wilson, chairman of the Paz-Holley project, is at FM2 today, Saturday, June 16, 2018, with exciting information about the project, which now over the halfway point to raise $108,000 to buy an existing 3,000 s.f. + home in the Coburg/Kellyville area of Adair County. P-HP hopes to raise the balance in time for the deserving family to move into the home by Christmas. Donations of any amount will be accepted today - but regardless of whether you can give today, Mr. Wilson is ready to tell the story of the project to FM2 visitors today. Candidates are also at FM2 today - in fact, the Paz Holley Booth was put in place early with the help of David Burris, who just happens to have a daughter who is running for Adair County Judge Executive, whose candidate booth was the first set up today. Today's market has the biggest and widest selection of fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants of the season. Traffic before the 8amCT opening hour was already promising to be heavy. - EW

2018-06-16 - FM2/Hungry Kids Cafe, corner Merchant and Campbellsville Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Little Kids of all ages love to photo-bomb pictures - and Lois Cunningham of Hungry Kids Cafe, is no exception. At right is Pamela Feltner, who could almost keep a straight face. They were, in fact, already serving breakfasts and took time out to "pose." The weather was sunny and beautiful when the picture was taken at around 7:30amCT. They analyzed the day, and have changed the lunch menu to the following: Roast Beef Sandwiches, a cold Potato Salad, cuke/tomato salad, and icey-cold watermelon!!!

Scenic Adair County, KY - Beautiful tree tunnel farm entrance

2018-06-15 - Along a South Central Kentucky byway - Photo by Ed Waggener.
A busy farm lane is reminiscent of the days when, out of necessity the land and nature was more highly valued than machines, when a few scratches on the sides of farm trucks and on the tops of mail and other delivery trucks were seen as badges of honor, like Heidelberg dueling scars, which meant at the family farm was a working, not a gentrified hobby. Over the years, earnest, sincere farmers have emulated the hobby farmers to the point that roadsides are poisoned by the (lower case) state to the long time expense of the landowners. It's especially dangerous in today's age. But alas, save memories of Rachel Carson and persistent reminders by Joyce Coomer, degradation of the country side continues, at a terrible economic price. - EW
