Robert Ellis - Barn-kept and well aging Massey-Ferguson

2018-06-22 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Robert Ellis.

Barn Kept And Aging Well - Love this old Massey Ferguson Tractor that appears to have aged rather gracefully. The penetrating light pouring through the barn slats provide just about the right amount of exposure to render a nicely composed shot with a pleasant outcome. This pic was one of many that came from a farm here in Adair County. This particular image was part of a "commissioned" family farm photo album, and happens to be my favorite of the photo shoot. - ROBERT ELLIS. Photo (c) Robert Ellis Woodworking

State warns to use commonsense as water activities increase

2018-06-22 - Madison County, KY - Photo from Kentucky Cabinet for Environment & Energy.
A HAB on Lake Reba in Richmond, KY in 2016. Holiday water recreation tips have been issued from Public Health, Division of Water. DOW and DPH recommend avoiding areas with Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). Blue-green algae occur naturally in the environment and are a vital part of the ecosystem. HABs arise when there are excess nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen), sunny conditions, warm temperatures and low-flow or low-water conditions. But the state agency says, "By using common sense, your risks of experiencing water-derived health issues can be greatly decreased."

2018-06-22 - Columbia, Adair County, KY - Photo by ColumbiaMagazine.com photo.
Looks like a small Cardinal female, but the color is different from any we've seen, in any personal meeting or among the pictures in an online search. Anyone have authoritative ID. It is cute. - EW

Trees of KY - Japanese Maple a family member of many moods

2018-06-22 - Fortune Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Pen Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
It's a foreigner, we know, planted with the original landscape on our home. It has now been reliable member of our family for over half of all our lives. It has many moods, this one, with its deep green, drenched and dripping, cues the promise of summer bounty. No, it's not a native tree, but it has lived here long enough to seem so. - EW
