New blacktop on Hwy 61, Adair to Cumberland

2018-06-25 - Hwy 61 - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
A new road coating of blacktop has been added on Hwy 61, from Sparksville in Adair County (photo at left), into Cumberland County nearly to Burkesville (at right). Or as I'd give directions, to that barn beside the road as you near the old road before the bypass was built, the one with the pretty quilt piece billboard on the front of it. Either way, you'll know it when you get there because the new cover provides a really smooth ride. - LW

The Raider Bob Lindsey Wilson College logo on the Columbia Adair Utilities District (CAUD) water tower is in view from Jamestown Street in this picture. At a stop to look at the development underway as you turn into the old Industrial Park, turning to see what's in back allowed this view that included New Columbia's big water tower, Super Walmart and, on a very close look, a few of the steel beams going up on the new Wayne Supply store can be seen. - LW
