Wildflowers of Kentucky: 4th of July Fireworks Flower

2018-07-14 - Christine-Sano Road, Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
With a Garden-of-Eden, Chip-and-Joanna derivative nomenclature, that's - 4th of July Fireworks Flower - what this flower was named right of the box, before our botany betters, an internet search, or someone else mercifully tells us its binomial or popular name. - EW

FM2 - Farm-to-market transports laden with corn, tomatoes

2018-07-14 - FM2 at Municipal Parking Lot, Campbellsville & Merchant Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo Credits: Starring - Sonny Vance. Creative Director - Trilby Vance; Photography - Donna Jones, Big Black Dog Farm.
Sonny Vance of Sonny's Woodworking & More Cane Valley, KY is at FM2 today with a line of classic handcrafted toys and home decor. Above, he poses with two of his wife's and craft show buyers' favorites over the years. The tractor pulling a wagonload of sweet corn and the farm truck carrying a pick-up load of red tomatoes and pulling a trailer with a whopper yellow one. For now, these models are no longer in production, which makes them of interest for collectors to buy as speculative investments. The Vances are at the today's market, which was scheduled from 8am-1pmCT, today, Saturday, July 14, 2018. - EW

Incredible! John Mark Partin & Haley Ellison - Sweet Corn

2018-07-14 - FM2 at Municipal Parking Lot, Campbellsville & Merchant Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
John Mark Partin & and his girlfriend, Haley Ellison, were, not incredibly, almost sold out of "Incredible" sweet corn after arriving at Farmers Market on the Square with a full truck load of it. Corn here, and with most sellers in Adair County, is $4 per dozen/and if it had been sold from a stall or in a restaurant/slathered in butter, it would retail for $2-4 depending on whether sold by the ear or half ear, returning $24 to $48 on a $4 investment! We have seen is on restaurant menus since Ol' Joe's BBQ turned it in the National Food of Adair County. The incredible taste sweet corn is what gives it such value. John Mark is the great grandson of the late Ray Partin, a legendary figure in the development of Adair County agriculture. His grandfather, Terry Partin was there today, too, making sure that when the truck left the Municipal Parking lot, their space would be cleaner than they found it. - EW
