More than just your average ditch lilies

Traveling toward them, we would have labeled these ditch lilies that grow wild along the roadways. However, up close they were discovered to be doubles, maybe even more than double the petals. - LW

Mimosa trees blooming along the highway in Sparksville

Edmonton Bicentennial seeking decade themed floats

The Edmonton Bicentennial Committee is hoping to have 20 decade themed float categories for each decade in the city's history. Suggestions for each 10 year period are listed, but not restricted to those from the fertile imaginations of those who came up with the list above. There are no entry fees. Flowers of Kentucky: Lavender, Zinnias star in backyard bouquet

Shakespeare in the Barn gets major comfort improvement

Bill Sublett and Donald Colvin went to work this week to make the show barn at Homeplace more comfortable for Saturday's performance of Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona. They have added two large windows on the back side of the barn which will significantly improve air circulation. - George Kolbenschlag

NWS Severe weather predicted for Fri 20 Jul 2018

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued the following warning, accompanying the graphic above: "An unusually strong mid-July storm system will likely bring severe weather to parts of southern Indiana and central Kentucky Friday and Friday night. The graphic has our latest thoughts. All hazards are possible - damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes, and flash flooding. NWS Louisville Note: The CM 7 county area of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties are in the yellow, or "slight risk" band. -EW

Dr. Lisa Allen named CU interim dean of school of education

Dr. Lisa Allen has been named interim dean of Campbellsville University's School of Education according to an announcement by Dr. Donna Hedgepath, provost and vice president for academic affairs at CU. She said Dr. Allen's in-depth knowledge of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation process and her work and relationships in Frankfort will allow CU to move forward in a strong, positive direction.
