Campbell kills rattle snake on York Cemetery Road
2018-07-23 - Adair County, KY - Photo By Rita Campbell. Rita Campbell sent these photos and wrote: "My husband killed a rattle snake. It was 4 foot 3 inches and weighed 32 pounds. Randall Campbell is pictured holding up the snake and our Grandson, Carlos Gomez, stands with him. The snake was killed in our yard on York Cemetery Road off Melson Ridge. We have a dog that lets use know if there's a snake around." The lower photo is a close up of the dead rattler.

Fishing Elkhorn Creek: Compleat Angler Depleating the Stream
2018-07-22 - Elkhorn Creek, Franklin County, KY - Photo by Pen. The quiet scene is a bit deceptive. The stream is so popular with kayakers that it is sometimes tough for a diligent, ambitious young competitive Collins Titan fishing team member to get in all the practice he needs. Evan wasn't as excited about the outside possibility that he might compete in the Cabela National Fishing Tournament in 2020 as we'd expected. He's getting expert inside tips from his cousin Blake Cowan, but worries that any tournament on smaller lakes may "pressure" the lake, depleting it of fish the rest of the season. In Elkhorn Creek, he's in no danger of pressuring, or overfishing, the stream, as, he reasons, the kayakers make it more difficult to catch the abundantly stocked stream. - Granddad, Ed Waggener

Kayaking - for mind, body and soul
2018-07-22 - Green River, Green County, KY - Photo from Mitzi Bault. Nine humans and one dog enjoyed a day of Kayaking - it is recommended by Kayaker Mitzi Bault as one of the best things to do for mind, body and soul. In no particular order, the party includes Jim & Sara Sproles, Greg Willis, Robin Curry, Mr. & Mrs Simpson & their dog, and Sharon Sroka. We put in at Ralph Vaughn Road and paddled down to the Green County Paddling Park. Mitzi Bault

Sandy & Rick Wilson - Great Day at FM2 for Paz-Holley project
2018-07-22 - FM2 at Municipal Parking Lot, Campbellsville & Merchant Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. Sandy and Rick Wilson are following their calling to lead the Paz Holley Project which is within $48,000 of its goal $108,000 for getting a permanent home for a family of twelve - ten children and their parents. The Wilsons were at Farmers Market on the Square in this photo and they work for the family everywhere they go until the goal is met - the goal is by Thanksgiving 2018. Accelerated completions of earlier pledges, added to new donations in the past 2 days, unofficially have kickstarted the project, One could be a major hero by writing a check for that amount today, or for 38 others - one a day for 38 days. Though Thanksgiving Day 2018 is the target goal for moving the family into their new home, the sooner for a story which has captured the hearts of South Central Kentucky and caring people across the country. -EW.

Rabbit in the clouds is surely a sign
2018-07-21 - Columbia, Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. If ever there was an omen, it has to be the sight of this great, fuzzy, mixed Angora/Netherland Dwarf rabbit in the clouds seen Saturday, July 20, 2018, before the thunderstorms. If those two days of double rainbows at New Columbia/Greater Bliss are a "sure sign of prosperity. Or what?" then Snow Cloud in the Sky has to mean a sure sign of abundant life and prodigious proliferation. Or What? That much is clear. Whether it means the rabbits ilk or hours is the great theological question to dwell on Saturday night and resume on Monday just past midnight. - EW
