Bryant enters guilty plea in Adair Circuit Court

On Tuesday, July 24, 2018, William Todd Bryant appeared in Adair Circuit Court and entered a guilty plea to numerous charges related to child pornography and child sexual abuse.

Poke berries getting ripe but don't eat them

Poke berries are coming into their own plump ripeness but they should be avoided due to parts of the berries being poison. The leaves of the Poke plant are edible after being boiled, the water poured off, and then re-boiled. Here in this picture, I just thought they made a pretty bouquet amidst the little white flowers. - LW

New school Board Member George Payne, Div 5, re-introduced

George Payne, recently appointed to fill out the unexpired vacancy created by the resignation of long time school board member Mike Harris, who vacated the Division 5 seat when he moved out of the division, was re-introduced on his second session as a board member. Payne was appointed by the State Board of Education. - EW

In her popular "Superintendent's Comments" monthly feature, Dr. Pam Stephens introduced the newest member, Adair County High School Junior Tye Cheatham, far left, drawing a broad smile from Chair Lisa Burton with her comment on the seating arrangement, closest to Member Daniel Adams, although Cheatham is actually a resident of Division 2, Board Member Jonathan Gaskins' division, at right. Cheatham was present for the first time as student board member, replacing Lauren McQuaide, who graduated in May of 2018. Tye is the son of Brian and Tiffany Cheatham. - EW. Camp held for Cville middle and high school football players
