Swimming Team Makes Gifts

Members of the Lindsey Wilson swimming team gather at the natatorium in the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center after making their individual gifts to the $1 Million Chair's Challenge. Student-athletes from all of LWC's athletic teams made donations to the All In For LWC 48-Hour Campaign. The campaign ends at midnight, Wednesday. The Chair's Challenge was created to celebrate the donors whose smaller gifts make a big difference. The money raised will go to student scholarship aid.

Sidewalk reconstruction project ready to begin

The Columbia City Council approved the bid from Mike Mitchum's Mid State Ready Mix, Columbia, KY on a motion made by Dr. Ronald Rogers with a second by Linda Waggener followed by a unanimous voice vote. The motion stipulated that the concrete must meet all requirements through each quality test performed. The sidewalk above shows needed improvement areas located at the corner of Greensburg and Dillon Streets. Work is ready to begin immediately. - EW

City Council okays compensating tax rate, sidewalk work
 2018-09-12 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. All six Columbia City Council Members listened as City Attorney Dustin Warren read Ordinance 220.174 in a special called meeting Wednesday, September 12, 2018 to set the tax rate for the year. The motion to choose the recommended compensating tax rate, was approved on a motion by Dr. Ronald Rogers and a second by Pamela Hoots with a unanimous voice vote. The Council also approved sidewalk improvements to begin on Greensburg Street after having selected the bid from Mike Mitchum of Mid State Ready Mix on a motion by Dr. Rogers with a second by Linda Waggener and a unanimous voice vote. Seven steel beams now span bridge on Rollen Coomer Road
 2018-09-12 - Johnson School Road, Gadberry-Fairplay, Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday these beams were on the ground across Pettit's Fork of Russell Creek, and Adair County Road Foreman Terry Corbin announced at the Adair County Fiscal Court meeting last night, Tuesday, September 11, 2018, that the work would begin "in the morning." News spotter Charles Marshburn let us know this morning that the first beam was being placed. At the end of the day all seven of the huge beams were in place. - EW. CTB represented by Tina Parson at C/AC Chamber Picnic
