Columbia City Council, October 2018 meeting

2018-10-04 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Mitzi Bault, CM Staff.
"This picture is for my Uncle Ed who normally sat in this spot at the monthly City Council meetings and always took what he called an 'establishment picture' to document what things looked like when the event began. On this night, except for Ed Waggener, everyone was in place - all six council members, mayor, city clerk and city attorney - for the meeting to begin promptly at six. I kept time at the mayor's request and gave the signal since the clock in the room was, as usual, not right." - MB

Lindsey Wilson SGA President Jacob Beckley at CC meeting

2018-10-04 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Mitzi Bault, CM staff.
Jacob Beckley, Lindsey Wilson College Student Government Association (SGA) President, asked the Columbia City Council for a crosswalk between the campus and residential area on Young Street which student leaders have called for in recent years to improve student safety. He said it remains a top priority for students having to cross the busy connector Street from Fairground to Jamestown Street. Because Young Street is a state road, a crosswalk has to come from the state, however, he appealed for help in getting connected with the right people. Mayor Hardwick invited him to come back to City Hall during business hours for a conference call so that a meeting on this subject can be held by phone. An appointment time for the conference call was being scheduled as the meeting closed.

Variegated fritillary

2018-10-03 - Jefferson Co., KY - Photo by Pen.
Wikipedia has this to say about Euptoieta claudia: " Their flight is low and swift, but even when resting or nectaring, this species is extremely difficult to approach, and, because of this, its genus name was taken from the Greek word euptoietos, meaning easily scared.

Epicurean Kentuckian: Everything with lox

2018-10-03 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Pen.
An all-savory combination from Nancy's Bagel Grounds at their new home on Spring Street in Louisville. Everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, tomato, onion and capers. Nancy's sells sweet bagels, but we didn't ask if they'd make one bagel-gate style.
