Elect Pamela Hoots ~ Mayor, City of Columbia This fall I am running for the office of Mayor of Columbia, where I hope to continue serving the residents of our town. I believe this office is a community service position and should involve the input of all residents. As your Mayor, I plan: 1. Explore infrastructure updates for our community. This includes possible gas expansion, sidewalk extensions and improvements, and additional water hydrants for areas that have been annexed into the city. 2. Work toward all funding opportunities that could be available for our community. We need to ensure that we are working for state and federal grant funding that could apply to our town. 3. Have a transparent government for our citizens. We need to be an open record for our community. We need to look for efficiency improvements in the City of Columbia. 4. Be available to all residents and their concerns. Encourage everyone to become involved in what happens in our town and encourage everyone to be a part. 5. Promote safety in all schools and for all residents of our town. All should feel safe. This includes starting the Community Watch Program again, extending the DARE Program in the school system, and starting a Citizens Police Academy. 6. Support local business and encourage their expansion. This includes manufacturing as well as retail. The Mayor should be visiting businesses regularly and seeing what options may be available for local business expansion and see what incentives could be available.
