Hedge Apple Trees, Osage Orange - giving away in sets of 3

2018-11-13 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.
Back in early May I scrounged around in some local woods and got seeds from 5 different trees. Planted the seeds in a tray and never expected 60 would actually sprout and start to grow. These got transplanted in a temporary "nursery" area of my garden, and are ready to be given away to a new home. Since they can be male or female, and I have no way telling which is which, I hope by giving away 3 from 3 different trees one will be opposite and will act as a pollinator.

Interest is starting to pickup in the medicinal properties of Hedge Apples as well as the monetary value of selling harvested apples. Also, the Osage Orange wood is highly prized by woodworkers, and folks that use it for firewood love it for its high BTU output. A word of caution though...they do have thorns! If you're interested in these trees contact me via email: robert@robertelliswoodworking.com
