Bridge in Metcalfe County from 1900s 2018-11-16 - Metcalfe County, KY - Photo by Larry J. Smith, General Manager, The Big Dawg, FM 99.9 radio. These bridges are becoming rare - this old bridge built around 1900 by the Champion Bridge Company of Ohio spans a creek off Highway 80 in Metcalfe County. The Champion Bridge Company started iron works in the 1860's in Ohio and built most of the old iron bridges in Kentucky, including the Original Tebbs Bend bridge in Taylor County, the old Plum Point bridge in Adair County and the Berry bridge in Green County. The iron used in construction of the old bridges were shipped into Campbellsvillle by rail and hauled by horse and buggies to the job site.
