Sharing the Thanksgiving tradition

The china belonged to Miss Effie Heskamp, but all the rest is her daughter Ann's. She shared this picture of the tradition in her family - "Turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry relish and Waldorf salad. Pecan and pumpkin pie. We use my mother’s china once a year at Thanksgiving."

I followed the trail to my grandchildren for Thanksgiving dinner today and was welcomed to Shelby County with scenes like this one. Interestingly this rural picture was taken right across the highway from Cracker Barrel, the setting of the most traffic I'd seen between Columbia and Shelbyville. -- Linda Waggener
