Fiscal Court meets, hires new recycling supervisor

The Adair County Fiscal Court met Wednesday, November 28, 2018 for the second reading of a budget amendment and then heard the personnel committee’s recommendation for a new hire at the recycling center. Christian Ford started right after the Fiscal Court approved hiring him at $10/hr as recycling supervisor.

Betty's turning 30 on Dec 5

Betty's Country Cooking, the landmark Columbia restaurant on North Hwy 55, will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary on Dec 5, 2018. Betty Ollestad, who started Betty's Country Cooking with her ex-husband and still-friend Rich, has been, and continues to be, an important part of the community that she serves. Betty says "She attributes her success first to God, and second to her family," a group which has always included her customers and employees. The Ollestads and the Kesslers plan to mark the anniversary milestone with a week-long extravaganza of thirty-cent drink and dessert specials, visits from Santa Claus, gift card specials, and big-ticket giveaways, beginning on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Betty's Country Cooking, the landmark Columbia restaurant on North Hwy 55, will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary on Dec 5, 2018. The Ollestads and the Kesslers plan to mark the milestone with a week-long extravaganza of thirty-cent drink and dessert specials, visits from Santa Claus, gift card specials, and big-ticket giveaways, including a TV and tickets to a Tennessee Titans football game.

Looking south from Stockton Drive outside of Campbellsville on Hwy 55 - the scene of Tuesday's fatal accident - the disturbed grassy side of the road shows the chaotic vehicle marks resulting from the multi-vehicle pileup that took one life and left a child in critical condition. In the distance is Lake Cumberland CDL at the junction of Lone Valley Road and Hwy 55.
