Rush Hour at 12,000 feet

2018-12-14 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Pen.
This screenshot from the FlightAware app shows a representation of the 5amET rush hour from Standiford Field (KSDF) this morning. The majority of the large planes were UPS, with some FedEx and a few smaller regional cargo flights mixed in, and this traffic was pretty consistent during predawn hours, with another jet taking off every few minutes.

Governor Bevin announced on Thursday that AmerisourceBergen, a global healthcare company, will expand its full-line Louisville distribution center with a $15 million investment expected to generate 134 full-time jobs. The decision was influenced in no small part by "Kentucky’s highly developed logistics and distribution industry, which includes four major ground and air-shipping hubs and a total 524 facilities employing more than 64,000 people."

VJG, girl with coolest Christmas cards but no return address

2018-12-14 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Where are you Victoria Jane Goodin? Over the years, you have shared good friend Merry Christmas messages in the coolest of cards - awesome paper creations that delight when opened and fanned out, as in the one pictured. I'd love to return a Christmas card but there's never a return address since you moved on from Adair County. Each holiday I think, I'll ask her mom in passing and then it doesn't happen. Another year I think, with the internet I have to be able to find an address. It hasn't happened. And so, as I'm loving this new card with the little paper Christmas tree, I'm hoping to get a reply with an address so I can mail a Christmas card to you somewhere in the world. It won't be as cool as yours, but it will be sent with heartfelt Christmas greetings and wishes for a joyous new year! - LW

Blow again! Kasey learns to make his own glass ornament

2018-12-14 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler.
Kid's handmade Christmas ornaments become family keepsakes and this one will definitely rank with the best. It may also require a bit more care since it is made of glass. Eddie and Tiffany Kessler took their son Kasey, 7, to Flame Run in downtown Louisville where he actually got to create his own Christmas snowman ornament. They said he loved it and it's great for kids, teaching them all about the world of glass blowing, plus they get a beautiful ornament.
