Still Standing

Over the last 30 years, Flat Rock Road in Eastern Jefferson County has transformed from a quiet rural lane to a fairly busy entrance to numerous densely packed modern subdivisions.

Another one appears to be underway this year behind this little blue house, nestled next to the old WHAS tower across from Long Run Park. For the past month, massive earth-moving machinery has been parked in the former yard, and I've been expecting the little house to disappear any day.

I'm sure abandoned old houses are an eyesore to some. However, any time I've driven by, I've been pleasantly surprised to see it still standing. --Pen

Looking back at 2017 - who will win best 2018 tonight?

Last year, 2017, the 1st Place Adair Float winner was Bloomington Chapel Church. The Millerfield Brethren in Christ Church float won second place. Who will win for best floats in 2018? That will be decided today, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 5pmCT in the Industrial Park on Hwy 55 South (old OshKosh factory location), Columbia. After the float judging, the Parade heads down Jamestown Street to the Public Square at 6pmCT.
