CMS students learn about absolute value

Campbellsville Middle School students are expanding their math skills. In Ms. Grider's class, students are learning about absolute value, how far a number is from zero. After the lesson, students were quizzed to see how well they understand the concept. In this picture CMS teacher LeeAnn Grider helps sixth-grader Destiny Lane as she works problems to find absolute value.

Roadside giant bubble maker for sale

One of the things that could be purchased for Christmas was a giant bubble maker, demonstrated by this fellow on the roadside. It was hard to ignore giant bubbles floating among the bustling holiday traffic in the picture on the right. As he created the bubbles, at left, his sign offered his invention for $20 - training on how to use it might be extra, that wasn't clear.

Wikipedia says that Aythya affinis "is a small North American diving duck that migrates south as far as Central America in winter. It is colloquially known as the little bluebill or broadbill because of its distinctive blue bill."

Big crowd for City of Columbia swearing in ceremony

The seats are filling up quickly for the City Officials swearing in ceremony this afternoon, Sunday, December 30, 2018. The family of Council Member Dr. Ronald Rogers is seated in front. Standing at right newly elected Council Member Sharon Payne talks with members of her family there to support her. The newly elected Adair County officials will be sworn in a week from today, January 6, 2018.
