Birds of Kentucky: Great Blue Heron
 2019-01-18 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. This blue heron and I watched a belted kingfisher struggle mightily with, and finally eat, a fish that was nearly half as big as he was. Once the kingfisher finished his meal and flew away, the heron immediately took his spot on this log to try his luck.

KY Afield Outdoors: New Fishing Regulations for 2019
 2019-01-18 - Ohio River - Photo by Lee McClellan. New fishing regulations concerning walleye, sauger and saugeye, like this trophy saugeye caught from the Ohio River, changed for 2019. This regulation change is one of several that go into effect when the new fishing license year begins March 1.
Walleye, sauger and saugeye, a hybrid of walleye and sauger, now have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a six-fish daily creel limit statewide.
