A warming stone on this frigid end of January 2019

In the absence of sunshine at this early hour of Thursday morning, January 31, 2019 - my late Dad's birthday - I'm warmed by a keepsake from my niece Beth Ann Cravens. She collects and smoothes the stones and then decides what art should be painted on it. Her gift is my bright spot this morning.

Matt Brummett chosen AC Cattleman of the Year 2019

Commissioner Ryan Quarles presented the coveted Adair County Cattlemen's Association Cattleman of the Year Award to this year's recipient Matt Brummett. Brummett handles a herd of 500 plus 400 feeder calves in the Glensfork area of the county. The Association's event had a packed house last night. It is one of the largest organizations that represents farmers. For more information, contact the Extension Office in Columbia.

Cattlemen serve up ice cream for dessert after chili cook off

The Adair Cattlemen's Association had a packed house for their annual meeting last night. Items on the agenda included guest speaker KY Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, member awards, and election of new officers. The Cattlemen's Association is one of the largest organizations representing farmers. The local Association meets about six times a year, hosts an annual Field Day, and provides scholarship opportunities to Adair County students wishing to attend college.

Teresa Bright presented with Cattlemen's Association award

Teresa Bright was presented the Adair County Cattlemen's Association Appreciation Award in honor of the many volunteer hours she puts into the organization some of which include serving as treasurer, preparation for board meetings, and updating the local newsletter. Besides her outside work with the Cattlemen's Association, Bright is most known for almost 30 years of work as a staff assistant with the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service.
