Before last week's presidential election, Adair County school bus drivers Bobby Pelston, riding, and Chirpy Nell, pushing, made a bet on who would be the next president, with the loser having to give the winner a ride around the square in a wheelbarrow. So, when Bobby's Republican candidate Ronald Reagan defeated Chirpy's Democrat Jimmy Carter, Chirpy paid off by wheeling Bobby around town Saturday afternoon." Campbellsville High School junior Malachi Corley has been honored for his performance on the basketball court this season. Corley was recently named to the fifth region all-region team. The Fifth Region Basketball Coaches Association recently made the announcement. Corley and the other honorees will be recognized at a banquet on Monday, March 18, in Springfield. Robert Horton of Columbia and Elizabeth Leper of Tennessee made five girls and five boys blankets and he delivered them to the Chamber of Commerce in Columbia Thursday. They are for the drive being done by Norma Scott for Kosair Children’s hospital. Horton presented the blankets to Chamber of Commerce Secretary Kathy Johnson and said this is first year he and Elizabeth made blankets for the drive and they prepared them all in three days.
