Goin' to State! ACHS Choir to sing at Rupp Arena Sunday

Sunday, March 10, 2019 this Adair County High School women's ensemble, under the director of Mrs. Ginna Marsh Franklin, will sing The National Anthem - a major accomplishment for the school and the music program. In front, from left are: ACHS Choir Director Ginna Franklin, and students Emma Rich, Ellie Belcher, Joaquina Domingo, Kayla Eaton, Faith Berry and Emma Grider. In back from left are: Raven Yike, Amie Padgette, Autumn Reynolds, Cheyan Walters, Aeriyal Anderson, Madison Coomer and Kristina Kirksey. The students range from freshmen to junior grades so the experience they are gaining will be represented into the future.

Elk in Repose

A couple of the elk at the Salato Wildlife Education Center. According to the center's Outdoor Exhibits web page, "Elk disappeared from Kentucky in the mid 1800's due to unregulated hunting and habitat loss. Now, thanks to a successful reintroduction program by the KDFWR and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Kentucky boasts the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi."

Adair County Knife Club members celebrating ten years

The Adair County Knife Club has been having the Knife Swap and auction for ten years in Columbia. Pictured are the six original members that helped start the club: Paul Green, sr., Harrison Moss, Charles Barker, sr, Philip Cox, Willard Bryant, and Bill Aaron. Five of these men have been with the club for ten years - Paul, Harrison, Philip, Willard and Bill. The club would like to thank Columbia Magazine, local newspapers and radio station for helping us get the word out about our knife swap and auction, and all those who come out and support us.

Shinnerrie Jackson

Shinnerrie Jackson in a compelling performance of Ain't I A Woman!". Jackson portrays multiple characters while interacting with the onstage musical trio of cello, piano and percussion.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 7pmCT, the Core Ensemble will perform the chamber music theatre work Ain't I a Woman! at V.P. Henry Auditorium at Lindsey Wilson College, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. This production is presented by Lindsey Wilson College Cultural Affairs and admission is free.
