The historic train tunnel sits on the Taylor/Marion County line and, at the halfway point in the tunnel, you go from Taylor to Marion County. These days every historian is looking back, wondering why we didn't act to protect the tracks and the old rail line for tourism and other purposes. Could you imagine having Green River Lake and a railroad still in use with a booming economy? From an industrial aspect this would certainly be beneficial to Campbellsville, Lebanon, Greensburg and Springfield. These days we still cherish the memories, but now several generations of people have grown up not knowing what is was like when we had the railroad and sounds of the train horns. Flu activity in the area 2019-03-08 - Frankfort, KY - Photo courtesy CHFS. The Department for Public Health is still reporting widespread flu activity in Kentucky. For the reporting period, Adair County has 63 confirmed cases, Casey 47, Cumberland 4, Green 35, Metcalfe 191, Russell 5, and Taylor 8. Barren County remains the most active county in the area, with 1027 confirmed flu cases, more than even Fayette, which has a much higher population, but only 380 confirmed cases. Cumberland County water levels changing very gradually 2019-03-08 - Cumberland County, KY - Photo Burkesville Mayor Billy N. Guffey. Mayor Billy Guffey reported mid week that the flood situation from water being released at Wolf Creek Dam was inching downward, the right direction, IF there's no more rain. He said all the experts agree that this water will not recede for weeks, if not months. Cumberland County currently has over 20 roads impacted that include 87 residences. He noted that unlike flooding from rain where creeks and rivers can drain, with the water coming out of the dam, creeks and rivers are actually being pushed back and flooding. Breeding area, off Chestnut Grove Road. Not sure if he was a drop off or if he's lost. He is so friendly. No collar and very hungry. He's loving all of the attention, but I cannot keep him.
