Discovering the Forest Giants
2019-03-18 - Bernheim Forrest - Photo by Tiffany Kessler, columbiamagazine.com. Few adults know the secret to conquering a giant this size and yet it seems to come natural to children. We definitely recommend this stop to discover Forest Giants - it was an easy drive from Columbia to Nelson County, free entrance during weekdays, and $5 per carload during the weekend. We were only able to view (and climb on) one of the creatures, but I have a feeling we'll be back in warmer weather to visit brother and sister. Bernheim is located in Bullitt and Nelson Counties in Kentucky, around 25 miles south of Louisville.

Pure joy in motion at Green River Lake
2019-03-18 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. Joy - pure joy - was what came to mind observing this brown and white playing in the high waters of Green River Lake Saturday. He first galloped around, exploring the edges of the waves, then romped, sniffed, pointed, raced and leaped in the air, before plunging right into the muddy water. He paddled out several yards before turning back, gulping a couple of drinks and climbing out. Once out, he did that shimmy thing dogs do to shake off the water. Then he rolled and rolled in the grass before starting all over again. The tree line shows half the trees were under water. Where he swam was in the high water covering the lower parking lot and the beach at Holmes Bend Marina.
