Six KY sites nominated for National Register of Historic Places

Six sites from Kentucky will be considered for listing in the National Register of Historic Places on Tuesday, April 9, including a historic limestone roadbed and series of turnpike milestones from Louisville to Bardstown, nominated by the Youth Chamber of Preservationists student group from Bullitt East High School.
  • Louisville to Bardstown Turnpike Milestones and Roadbed
  • Butchertown Historic District
  • J.J. Reilly Manufacturing Building at North 13th and Rowan streets in Louisville
  • Heartland Farm, located at 1470 Clifton Road near Versailles.
  • Trail’s End Camp, 8030 Elk Lick Falls Road in rural Fayette County
  • Willis Russell Memorial House, located at 204 E. Walnut Street, Danville.
The Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board meeting will take place at 10amET at Paul Sawyer Public Library, 319 Wapping St., Frankfort, KY. The review board is charged with evaluating nominations prior to their submission to the National Park Service (NPS), which will issue a final determination of listing within 45 days of receipt.

Rides: Nissan Figaro

A lime green Nissan Figaro, spotted a couple of blocks from the Cathedral Basilica in downtown St. Augustine.

Only 20,000 of the cars were made, and all of them with the steering wheel on the right side, so only a few have made it to the US.

Kentucky Color: Waistcoat and Pocket Watch?

Although many of the residents of Green Hills consider it to be a Wonderland, our White Rabbit of Green Hills had neither waistcoat nor pocket watch, as best I could tell. However, I did overhear him commenting to his rather mundanely mottled gray friend something about an appointment with a Duchess! --BJF
